Starbucks GC and the "Deception Point"; or staring at someother elses thoughts

At last, I have used my P300.00 worth Starbucks Gift Certificate which I won as a price for the charade game we played during our Christmas party in Pansol, Laguna. I got myself my favorite Toffee Nut Frappe and a Banoffee Pie for my baby. Nothing beats a sit under those green Starbucks UMBRELLAS while looking around and sipping iced coffee while reading this book I picked up in Books For Less. Another addition to my collection, another Christmas present I serve for myself. Dan Brown's "Deception Point" is now invading my shelf to add up my collection. Well, I got to say this book was not yet made into a movie (as far as I know) but its a worthy read.

Talking about reading, have you ever been in a situation like you want to read what is running through some other else's mind? I bet I just did this night when I took a quick break alone in Starbucks.

Not long before I found a comfy seat near the AC, there is this man in gray who came in and sit in front of the table I was in. I was busy by then reading Dan Brown so it slipped out of my mind that I am not alone in the place. When I took a chance to take a glance and try to grab some stare at the environment, I caught this man staring at my finger nails. Maybe he was trying to figure out what came into my mind and I colored my nails black. Gees! With that confused look, I realized that maybe he was thinking I am some sort of an emo-natic lad trying to dig in some place in Starbucks in which is inappropriate. Well, that's what i read on his mind. Never mind though, he left after he realized I was staring at him trying to ask him "You've got  problem man?" with the way I look. I never realized someone as big as him would be intimidated by a skinny lad like me. LOL.

This was not just one incident that marks this night. A family was gathered in one table with children and some kins. All dressed up like they are all giving their best shots in fashion and labels. Typically, I am not the sort of a guy who wears brands and trademarks. Simple. Striped black shirt, checkered brown shorts with black slippers, that's what I was wearing this night.

Starbucks has been known to be a place for elites thus the word itself should coincide with the customers that should come and go in Starbucks. As I walked out the door after I order, this teenager from the table of the family I mentioned, followed my walking and staring at me from had to foot. Nay! What a face! I can read his mind trying to ask me "Who is this ill-fitted guy hanging in a place like this?". I just answered him with a wry smile and continued walking until I reached my seat. I tried to search for the teenager and I caught her still staring at me. So I said "You've got a problem kid?" Thus, she ended staring at me.

What the heck with wearing something special for a place like this coffee house? I ain't born wit a good taste in fashion but I know how to be in a place like this one. The hell I care with them anyway.

Last incident that made this night so to remember was when I pass by a food chain with call center agents taking their lunch, I guess (in McDonalds). I was then carrying Banoffee pie in left hand and my coffee on the right. My ears were stuck with the headset while playing was Nina's version of Kavana's Will You Wait For Me. The volume though is not that extent to hurt my ears thus I can still hear the environment aside from the music I am listening to.

Yes, I heard them talking about me. Shoots! Am I the man of the hour? I guess not! Or maybe just an unexpected 15 minutes fame on this Christmas day. LOL.

One from the table said, "What's with Starbucks that people are craving for their expensive coffee?" They thought that I haven't heard what they say so I took a look at their table and tried to seek for the girl who just uttered those words. I found her sitting at the left wearing that emo-fashioned look. NO wonder. SO i just smiled at her and converse with her thought. "What's with Starbucks? Nothing! Its just simply a place for people who loves coffee despite of the price. But not for people who can only afford regular fries and burger in Mcdonalds.

What a great night! I love this night.
