The Harry Potter Book Marathon

So goes my one week vacation (but including my restdays from works, it was a nine day straight out of the office). I spent much of my time at home trying to arrange and re-arrange the things in the living room but have been taking much time in sleeping.

I really did plan something on this vacation but there were things that have came along the way not allowing me to go on with my plan. Dammit though! I arrange this vacation for a special occasion, concerning my Father's death anniversary, since December of 2010. Gees! another of those broken plans.

Anyways, i find time as well to read those books on my shelf and was able to complete reading the whole 7 books of Harry Potter in just a month (March 10 to April 11, 2011). I have read the first 2 books before but i decided to read it again anf go on with the rest of the books in which I find it self-fulfilling that I was happy to finish it in a short period of time despite of me being busy at work sometimes.

What did i gain from that book?

I guess i can't say that i gained something from the book or learned something from it. The thing is, i didn't read it to look for a specific thing that I could apply to my life. All the stories were actually packed with adventure and it gives me a realization that there is a world existing in our imagination and all you need to do is just look at it on a different view such as reading this kind of stuff.

I salute J.K. Rowling though for the wonderful book she have shared. It is worth reading for me and it is worth imagining things like flying brooms, Quidditch and Horcruxes. I even wanted to have some Hocruxes so that I could atleast live 7 lives (which is impossible). Just an FYI, Horcruxes will be introduced on the last movie.

As i have heard, the last Harry Potter movie will be showing on July 2011 and im pretty excited to watch it.

"I Am Number Four" or the misspelled name case again.

Since it was my rest day, I have all my time to do anything what I want to do. My itinerary for this day is blank thus whatever comes in my mind, so be it.

After getting out from Unionbank ( I have my expiring ATM renewed) me and my Bhe went to Robinson's for some quality time. We have not planned of anything yet but whatever comes, so be it.

After checking whats being shown, we ended together to watch "I AM NUMBER FOUR". It stars ALEX PETTYFER. Our friend's review has have got us wonder what was the movie co'z we heard good feedbacks and, they did not let us down.

It was a good movie ( simply i couldn't say the best) and though I know this was based on a novel/book, there are deleted scenes that we cannot see but we can read in the book.

SFX were great. Superb fighting scenes and great stunts.

This movie starred my favorite GLEE-k DIANNA AGRON (playing Quinn in "GLEE"). Such a pretty face. I love her more when she does not play the villain of the story. She was great and yes she is so beautiful.

She played Sarah (opposite John Smith, played by Pettyfer). She was indulged in photography and when she met John (an alien who dress, walk, talk and live like us [human]), it turned out that she fall inlove with him and the rest was there love story. At the end, John will need to leave her first as they need to find some of their race scattered in allover the world.

Callan McAullife played "Sam", a bully from their school but has made friends with John and they turned out to be buddies, searching for Sam's father who was known to have been abducted by aliens of John's like.

HE and his father believed that aliens from other planets exist but has been treated like freaks and was bullied almost all throughout Sam's younger years but he now can prove that they were not those types of person when he met John. The problem is, He need to keep the things in silent.

This is Timothy Olyphant. He played the protector of "the number four, John. His rule was to play as the father of the alien John. Well, as the story goes, protectors always die in the movie and he died in the movie for protecting the sole savior of their planet.

He was cool.

And before the movie ended appears TERESA PALMER, who introduced herself as the "NUMBER SIX". SHe and John fought their enemies and all I can say was their scenes were great. SFX made it like something real.

TERESA PALMER is one hottie!

Well, I was ended with some hanging questions. I know there will still be a sequel for the movie and I hope it would be shown so soon.

Anyways, to save up some of my hanging questions, we went to Bestsellers (a National Bookstore  subsidiary) to ask about the book and yes, they confirmed its selling like hot cakes. I have asked them to reserve one for me and the problem on wrong spelling appeared again.

Sales Lady: How about saving one for you sir?
Me: Sure.

She grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote down "Reserved" and my name: "Mr. John".

to Nimmy, comment on why I appear to have issues with the spelling of the sales lady again.

LOL.

Minus the Virtual World for a Week

“Mercy Mercy Me”

It has been a week when I isolated myself from the virtual world and all I can say is that its worth the chance to live like how I dealt with the day. One week and all I did was bore myself with DVD marathon and music tripping.

I am on my “nth” time watching those Disney Classic fairy-tales-turned-movies. Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel (of which was changed to “Tangled”), Anastacia, Sleeping beauty (Aurora, now I can’t forget Sleeping Beauty’s name), The Little Mermaid and some Pixar and Dreamworks cartoon themed movies.

Gees! I can almost memorize the episodes of Glee Season 1 and memorize the lines on “Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks starrer “You’ve Got Mail”. That’s how bored I was when I decided to put the virtual world out of my senses first.

Well, aside from watching movies on DVD and listening to music, I indulged myself on picking up some good read on my shelf. The Little Princess is the book that I am currently reading. Was about to start again Tuesdays with Morrie but I don’t want teary eyed after I read the book. Though I might have already read it but I can’t help myself to grab it still in the future. In the meantime, I am allowing my hands to grab the Princess Sara book.

Just this day, I started to coddle myself with the virtual world thus blogging is what I first think of. No use co’z my fingers typed www.facebook.com first. Gees! Silly fingers!

Anyways, another month will soon pass and we are on the Love month in the next 1 day. Pretty thinking of what to do though. I don’t have any idea yet on how I would spend that special day.

The Book Collection and a Classic Movie : Shakespeare, Mitch Albom, The King and I

The Original Book which Romeo and Juliet was  based
We invaded Trinoma yesterday while waiting for our colleagues thus instead of just sitting in Starbucks and sipping those Toffee Nut Venti coffee, me and Wea walked around and tried to window-shop. Each stall and store caters variety of items but as I have told you, book shops always plays a nice place to pick some things that I can buy worthy for my leisure time. Ten minutes of looking from shelf to shelf, I decided to ask the saleslady for one book that i have been looking for, Mitch Albom's "The Five People You Meet In Heaven".

After the lady give us the right shelf to pick the book, I picked one copy and jump to another shelf where I saw the Shakespeare books. I have always been fascinated by Shakespeare's literary and so after deciding what to pick, ROMEO and JULIET landed on my hands.

Now added on my book shelf are these books. But my journey in picking up some good reads will not end here. There are still a lot of books that i want to have a copy of. Shakespeare, Jostein Gaarder, Dan Brown, J.K. Rolling etc etc etc.

Soon I might need some new shelves for my books but in the meantime, while my collection is still incomplete, i got to stick with what i have.

Reading has been one past time i am into now. I guess the internet is starting to bore me thus I am more on just on updating my blog page.
The King and I (1956)
Anyways, while I am writing this, a classic movie is playing. This movie seems to popular to all art lovers, unless you despise musical. It has been more than 15 years when I last saw this movie and thanks to technology I was able to download it and soon will have it on CD and file it on my compilation of movies.

The setting was in Siam, Thailand. The movie was actually played in the big scree in 1956. The King and I is basically one of my favorite musical movie of all times. Superb background, music is great and actors are wonderful. I can't just say simple things about the movie but I really appreciate the art of the movie.

I believe that there is already a remake of the movie who starred Jodi Foster and Chow Yun Fat,  Anna and The King. Both movies are great but the classic one is what really captured my favorite spot.

The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien; welcome to my shelf

I was never a fan of the movie Lord of the Rings. Aside from the movie length, dragging scenes can really bore me sometimes. I tried once though to watch it again and this time, I was fascinated with how the story goes and how the characters made the movie worth watching. so it ended with me on the couch for the whole day finishing the 3 parts of the movie. No wonder a lot of my friends have loved the movie.

We all know that LOTR was based of J R R Tolkien's book "The Lord of the Rings" which comes int 3 parts. Some scenes in book were cut in the movie thus its better to read the book again and base the story on what i have watch.

I'm glad i dropped by "Books for Less" again and saw this 3 books in the shelves. Now, i have this 3 books added on my shelf along with the previous books I have.

Next target, Shakespeare books at a low price. Vintage and nice.

My Book Shelf

I am on my rest days from work. Most of the time i am only at home infront of the computer and/or watching movies on DVD. This day, since no one was around, i decided to clean up and arrange things accordingly thus i worked from 11:00PM to 3:00AM. I got Nina, Sarah and Rachelle An Go in my background after listening to Jed Madela.

I jsut really wanna share you my book shelf. I never knew that i already picked up much book. I know it ain't but its a lot to me now.

as I told you i am not a book collector but there are just some things that are worthy to read and some worthy to know about. When i pick a book, i need to know what it is for first and i need to think if it can be a good read. I just dont pick a book that i can't get something that i can use daily or can be followed for my life.

I know that the TWILIGHT books are not that relevant to everybody's life. This are fiction books but the thing about it is it can broaden your imagination. It can take you to places where you have not been yet and it will let you experience things that is not true about life. Well, anyways, i got it because i am not satisfied with the outcome of it in the movies. Seems like there have been a lot of things left undone. It might have been so costly though if they really based it on every page of the book and so when they shortened it out, its best to read the whole book rather than watching the movie.

I got Sophie's World by Josten Gaarder. The book is about philosophy. There are still lots of books from Josten Gaarder that i want to buy. I love how he writes the stories of the novels. Its about symbolism, denotation and the likes (as i told you, i like those stuff). Maybe when i got a chance to visit the bookstore again, i will see to it that i got a copy of one of his book to add on my shelf unless Nicholas Sparks would not come  to me crawling on his kness to grab his books too.

I used to have L. Ron Hubbard's novel too. Sci-fi themed are most of his books but i sent it to my aunt co'z she has been craving for some good read. As of now, Hubbard books that you can see on my shelf are The Dynamics of Life, Clear Body Clear Mind and The Problems of Work. I guess the title speaks on what should the book be all about. Its a worthy read though. You will learn from it.
Since i got a sleeping problem and I am an insomniac, i dropped by this book stall and found this book from Alexander Stalmatski, Freedom from Insomnia. I have not finished reading it yet co'z i still can't figure out how to sleep properly until  decided to plan for a 6 to 8 hour sleep daily. Nah! it never worked so im not finishing the book yet.

I also got this book from Manish Gupta titled The Wacky World of Words which is a worthy read co'z you can get new ideas in constructing sentences as well as new words that you can use instead of using the traditional words we have grown up with. Curious? I can lend you the book and see it for yourself.

When my father died and coping with it is a long process, heaven heard my call to cope with it easily when i happen to pass by the book stall again and found this book from Victoria Secunda, Losing Your Parents, Finding Yourself. The book was all about dealing with things after losing someone dear, your parents. A nice book to read.

I got Keay Davidson's Twister in which was based on the movie Twister. I love Helen Hunt and thus i decided to take a peak on how the movie was made and how twisters are formed and these all are in this book.

On my shelf too are Bob Ong's ABNKKBSNPLAko, Bakit Baliktad Magbasa ng Libro ang Mga Pilipino, Ang Paboritong Aklat ni Hudas, Ang Alamat ng Gubat, Stainless Longganise, Mac Arthur and Kapitan Sino. Bob Ong is one of my favorite writer. I love the humor he puts on his books.

I have some good to read on references too, Reader's Digest, Joke Books, Music Book, Magazines, Astrology handbook. All of them are on this shelf.

One of my favorite too is V.C. Andrew with books so mysteriously worked on becuase of the mysterious stories.

And I love Jane Austen. Whichever i have, the movie or the book. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is very entertaining to me. some of my friends said that watching the movie is so boring. But, it is never boring when you have read the book.

Well, i can lend the books to you and vice versa.
