"Slacking 101" as presented by Gitmo (not the real name)

You see, we oftentimes feel the pressure of the daily task we have in the office or wherever we are working at, that is why while we are on duty, we tend to think of ways that we could loosen up pressure and try to tell everybody that we are working though we are not. We  call this slacking. This was coined by one of my friends in Owen Sound, Canada, Gitmo.

Gae as we call him or Gitmo, is one of the prominent person in the office where we work. Hard working, cool person and a slacker. He introudced me into this world of slacking and teach me how to do the tactics of letting people see and know that you are working but really is not doing anything work related. LOL.

Here are the lessons i learned from Gitmo.

Lesson 1: The Headset Effect
Tactic: Put on a headset and try to murmur things.
Explanation: In this way, people may think that you are in a call, or you are trying tom listen to call though all thats in your eras are actually but music and stuff. Not so work related. When people looks at you, they would think that you are busy thus giving you the idea to slack in a work. This is one idea that i have tried and did work. I have my headsets on and yes, nobody came near me or even ask me slight questions. SO, it did work. Slacking 101, Lesson 1, LEARNED.

Lesson 2: The Whiteboard and Pen Effect
Tactic: Bring a white board and pen and walk around the floor, stop a bit, scratch your head, then go 10 steps again, then scratch your head and try writing something on the board. Then smile.
Explanation. When you have a white board with you and a pen, everybody might think that you are doing something though you are not. May it either be you can play some X's and O's, tic tac toe. While walking around with this stuff, people might find it hard to catch your attention coz youa re an attention catcher itself. After let's say 5 or 10 rounds of walking around the floor, you can go back to your seat and proceed with Lesson 3.

Lesson 3: The Sore-Eye Effect
Tactic: Put on a dark sunglasses and whoala!
Explanation: When you are at your desk or your station and dark eyeglasses covers your eyes, thats a good way to take a nap. That's all.

Lesson 4: The Chit Chat Effect
Tactic: Find a friend that you can talk with or a workmate.
Explanation: YOu are just trying to kill your time especially when the day is almost done for your work. Get someone you can talk with and talk about everything under the sun. When someone is approaching your way, try to take a little turn with the subject you and your colleague are talking about. Let's say the situation is as follows:

You are working in a bank. YOu and your colleague are tlaking about going out and maybe some subject about your girlfriend or boyfriend but when your Boss approaches both of you, out of nowhere you will ask you colleague. "How was Mr. Smith's credit application, was it already done?

There. These are the few things i have learned as of this time from my Slacking teacher Gitmo and i am pretty sure i will still learn much from him.

See ya on the next post.
